This wonderful Manga has been published in HongKong since 1989 by Ma Wing
Sing and the Jonesky Ltd. group. It's the hottest thing since sliced wontons
and has spawned a visually stunning movie, StormRiders, by the folks who
brought you Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
STORMRIDERS(C)
There
is also a tv series now(shot in Taiwan), also with special effects by the
Crouching Tiger group, and starring the actor who played the mongol prince
in Crouching Tiger.
Ironically,
the willowy gentleman they have picked to play Wind has a very familiar
nose, a 5000 year profile.
WINDCLOUD(C)
The
epic series has remained at the top of its game through some 350 issues
and counting. Speaking of game, there is one (now in its 3rd version),
of course, several, actually,, if you count the many MUDs which use Wind
and Cloud as a basis.
Though it is very popular in China (fengyun...they named their first meteorological
satelite Fengyun B2), Singapore, HongKong, the Phillipines, and Malaysia
(Pedang Setiawan)... still, it is a difficult manga to find on the net
or to buy. In Mandarin it is called Tian Xia and also Feng Yun.
Unfortunately,
the earlier issues are not available, except through collectors' auction,
private sales, but newer reissues are being planned and the comic is currently
available through:
Much of
what's available on the net is in Chinese, usually what is called Big 5,
so set your browser to a new font, and take off on an adventure in how
to be illiterate and still find your way around.
The
different and marvelous swords are available several places, but your best
bet is to try Jonesky, which can be reached through the top left link below...comicsworld.com.
If you want a description of each character's sword, try the welcome.to/Tailwind
link at the bottom.
